Ashley Brown takes helm of Harrisburg neighborhood advocacy organization
Turn Back The Block has named Ashley Brown as Executive Director of the faith-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing Augusta’s Historic Harrisburg neighborhood. An Augusta native, Brown has more than two decades of experience in sales, education, volunteer management, and fundraising.
“I have deep roots in Augusta and I’m so excited to be a part of what Turn Black The Block is doing to promote home ownership and bring new vibrancy to the Harrisburg Neighborhood,” Brown said. “I’m honored to join this organization and I’m looking forward to committing my experience, my skills, and my passion to its mission.”

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Brown earned her Bachelor of Science in Education and is married to Augusta native, John-Clark Brown. Their son, John T. is a senior at Aquinas High School. Ashley has a teaching degree, worked sales for over twenty years, and most recently served as the Regional Community Relations Manager for Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. She and her family attend St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and she is active in the community.
“It means a lot to me to know that every day, what I’m doing is supporting my neighbors in their efforts to own their own homes,” Brown said.
Turn Back The Block is revitalizing the Harrisburg Neighborhood in Augusta, Georgia through rehabilitation, new construction, and the promotion of home ownership. Through volunteer labor and donations, the organization works on a block-by-block basis to create affordable home ownership opportunities where vacant lots or abandoned homes once stood.
