Thank You AU Day of Service!

A big thank you to all those who signed up to serve with us through the Augusta University’s Day of Service! With over 45 projects to choose from and 1600 positions to volunteer, we are thrilled this group chose Turn Back the Block to work at 2040 Battle Row. With the assistance of a few faithful FROGS, these AU students and faculty painted the home’s exterior. They worked diligently and were finished in a few short hours. All in a day’s work, and we are thankful! We hope to have this group come again in 2019. We love AU!

Working on the Next Block in Harrisburg

1941 Telfair Street

1943 Telfair Street

We are officially in the planning stages of our next block on houses, this time extending our footprint to Telfair Street. We have approved homeowners ready and waiting for their next place to call home. We anticipate these will both be three bedroom homes. Check back for progress and updates on upcoming volunteer block parties. We’ll start construction on these homes in early 2019.

2040 Battle Row in the Works

2040 Battle Row – Before

2040 Battle Row – Current, but not finished yet!

Battle Row was a focus for Turn Back the Block in 2018. In addition to the new construction homes at 2010 and 2012 BR, 2040 Battle Row saw a project with its largest footprint to date. This home was originally 2 bedrooms, and with the help of the FROGS, it now has an addition on the back with a total of 4 bedrooms. We are ready to turn the keys over to its homeowner in 2019!

2010 and 2012 Battle Row Complete

In 2018, Turn Back the Block completed two new construction homes on Battle Row. One of these homes saw a new homeowner ready to move in, and the other is awaiting an approved candidate. Welcome to Harrisburg!

Volunteer for the 4th Annual Harrisburg Clean & Green!

Join us Saturday, April 21st at 8:30 a.m. for the 4th Annual Harrisburg Clean and Green Day, in conjunction with the CityServe Day of Service. This event is an opportunity for volunteers of all ages to get outside and help clean up the streets, sidewalks, and vacant lots in Harrisburg. We will be meeting at the Salvation Army Kroc Center on Broad Street in front of the First Stop Village. From there, supplies will be distributed and clean teams will be assigned.

Lunch will be provided following the event, but due to expected turnout, you must sign up through Eventbrite in advance to take part in the lunch.

Children 16 and under must be chaperoned.
