Citizens of Georgia Power to Sponsor New Home Construction at 1922 Battle Row

Thanks to generous support from the Citizens of Georgia Power, our next home will be constructed at 1922 Battle Row, directly adjacent to the TBTB offices and warehouse. Each year, the Citizens of Georgia Power hold a golf and shooting clays tournament at Sage Valley to benefit local non-profit organizations. Turn Back the Block was fortunate to be a beneficiary of this amazing event in 2019.

The new construction home will be a three bedroom, two bath home, which will hopefully house a Harrisburg educator. If you are interested in this property, please make sure to fill out our preliminary application to start the home ownership process. Construction will commence in 2020.

Big thanks are in order to the Plant Vogtle Citizens of Georgia Power for creating our first home construction sponsorship!

Starting off 2020 with Demolition

Telfair Street Properties After Complete Demolition

2020 is off to a great start at Turn Back the Block. The organization has demolished three properties which were in desperate need of demo. Two properties on Telfair are now clear, vacant lots, and another on Saint Luke. These properties could not be saved, and served as nuisance properties to the neighborhood. Fortunately, grant funds allowed us the opportunity to start fresh on these Harrisburg streets.

Progress at 2014 Battle Row

The new construction home at 2014 Battle Row is taking shape with the FROGS hard at work. The kitchen cabinets and countertops have been installed, flooring laid, and more work to come. This three bedroom, two bath home should be ready for its homeowner mid-2020.

TBTB Welcomes Week Long Block Party

Volunteers from Fayetteville, Tennessee worked long and hard with the FROGS last week through mission outreach with Trinity on the Hill. Typically our block parties last half a morning, but TBTB was lucky enough to have several volunteers work with us all week. They worked hard and diligently, and we are sure they learned a lot about construction, demolition, and the Harrisburg neighborhood. They installed insulation, hung siding, and assisted with wiring at our new construction site 2014 Battle Row. They also completed demolition at 1922 Battle Row and filled the ever present dumpsters with debris. Battle Row is looking fantastic these days, all because of the hard working hands of our volunteer crews. Thank you so much for this wonderful group for coming to serve with us all week, especially to Trinity on the Hill for being an amazing partner. Take a drive by and see our progress!

Block Party March 23

Volunteer with us on March 23, and help us haul off some home debris leftover from the demolition earlier this month at 1922 Battle Row. We need 20 volunteers to help get this done. We’ll start at 8:30 a.m. and if we have 20 people, it’ll be finished quickly.
